Instructions and Tips for Use

This fantastic range of cutters from PME are very versatile and simple to use.

Lightly grease a non-stick board with Trex or other white fat or shortening and roll out paste very thinly. Use with edible or non-edible pastes, such as, Regalice Sugarpaste, Mexican Modelling Paste (MMP), Squires Sugar Florist Paste (SFP), Marzipan and Craft clay. For cake decoration other pastes may be used but I find Squires Sugar Florist Paste (SFP) to be the best as it is designed with sugarcraft flowers and foliage in mind.

Very lightly dust the top surface of your paste with Cornflour (cornstarch) a tip here is to put the flour into a muslin cloth and simply wipe across the top surface – that way you don’t get too much onto the paste.

Cut out the shape. Use a palette knife to lift the shape onto a PME Foam Pad or Cel Flower Former. For more realism emboss with a holly leaf veiner and the edges can curled by rolling the edge with a PME Ball Tool.

Leave to dry on crumpled paper for a few hours and then carefully attach to your cake using Edible glue or icing.

You can also insert Hamilworth wires, which are available in a number of sizes and colours, to make sugarcraft bouquets, sprays and flower arrangements.

As with Patchwork cutters the paste can be coloured before cutting out, painted or dusted with lustre colours before fixing in position.

NOTE Tools used with food products should be kept separate from those used with non-food materials, eg; Craft clay.
For extra lifelike flowers, try using these cutters in conjunction with our range of Veiners.
