Cut edge cake boards are thin cards covered on the top with silver food safe foil. They are cheap but not sturdy enough for celebration cakes.
They are best used for light cakes and desserts as they are only 1-1.8mm thick so will flex in use. Perfect for gateaux.
Cut edge boards can also be used as a divider in stacked cakes to prevent damage to the surfaces of lower cakes where a firm board is not necessary and a thin board is best as it cannot be easily seen when the cakes are covered and stacked.
Although these boards are of acceptable quality for their purpose there may be some slight variances in size and shape. They are not of the quality of Hardboards or drums and their price reflects this.
