Squires Kitchen Show

It was lovely having Steph and Pete down to stay this week. Of course although we did have some fun times the main purpose of the visit was a working trip as we went over to the Squires Kitchen Exhibition at Farnham in Surrey. Mind you that was fun too! Even Peter seemed to enjoy the exhibits!

After a very early start we made the 2 hour trip from Gloucester to Farnham arriving just slightly too late to be in the first 100 (doh! we could have stayed in bed for a bit longer !) which meant we did not manage to get one of the goody bags but everyone who did seemed very pleased with it. We then had a very chilly wait in the queue until the dooors opened at 10.00am. Unfortunately we were standing on the bridge over a small stream and the chill wind was blowing down the river and making it feel even colder than it was. So as soon as we got into the hall it was a quick coffee to warm us up a bit before heading into the fray!

First stop was a look at the competition rooms. Judging was to take place at 3.00pm so some of the competition pieces had not yet arrived but the ones that were on show looked absolutely fab! There were cupcakes for a baby shower and Beginners Royal Icing in one room and Sugar Flowers and Novelty cakes not to mention the tiniest miniature wedding cakes in another.

The main hall had various great trade stands that were doing a roaring trade in their products. Lots of interesting products on display and Patchwork Cutters had their new Disco Dancer Cutters and Large Alphabet cutters on show – hopefully they will be on the Partyanimalonline website very soon!… More great cutters from a great company.

We sat through a sugar boiling dem and then went down to look at the various stands from cake decorators throughout the country. Some lovely traditional and modern designs were on display. All very inspiring!

I am busy editing the many pictures that we took at the show so hopefully we will have some for you to look at very soon.
