Winter Wonderland Wedding- Crazy for Christmas Cakes.

Having taken the big step of buying a house….it is now time to take another big step….getting married!

My favourite time of the year is Christmas, forget birthdays, forget pancake day there is something magical about Christmas. So it was only to be presumed that my our wedding would be Christmas ‘themed’.

As with most events, when you work in cake decorating, everybody has their eye on the cake! So high on my priority list is the cake! I thought there would be limited inspiration for Christmas wedding cakes and dessert ideas, I was wrong! There is so many great ideas and I thought I would share a few with you so you can be inspired for weddings or even if you are an early planner like me and are planning Christmas 2013 already!

pine cone topper

First there is this amazing Pine Cone Topper which I found through Rustic Wedding Chic and WeddingBee have published a really simple tutorial on how to make the topper. In case you are wondering the pine cones are place on an Icing Nail so you won’t get little pieces in your cake! Every time I look at this, it gets so much cuter!

Then there are these amazing Christmas bow cakes made by MyDelightCupcakery. Which if you wanted to re-create could easily be done using the JEM Bow Cutters. The vibrant red against the pale white bows makes them a feature to any wedding dessert table.

With a Snowflake Lustre Dust sprinkled over the top of the bows it would add that extra Christmas sparkle! The Black Cupcake cases add a touch of glamour to the cakes, without taking away from the Christmas touch.

I think you could give these as favours to the guests as they do look so special and you could write individual names onto the ‘ribbon’ for the added personal effect.

I love the elegance of this cake from A Big Slice Of Cake from the deep red of the ribbon to a big slice of cakethe diamanté snowflakes. It doesn’t cross the boundary of being too much Christmas (although I don’t believe you can have too much Christmas) and it still ties in with the Christmas theme.

“Christmas…that magic blanket that wraps itself about us, that something so intangible that it is like a fragrance. It may weave a spell of nostalgia. Christmas may be a day of feasting, or of prayer, but always it will be a day of remembrance…a day in which we think of everything we have ever loved.” Augusta E. Rundel.
