Here at Party Animal Online we certainly go through a fair amount of Ink Cartridges printing off all your orders. Whilst having a spring clean in the office this past week we came across a box full of used ink cartridges ready to recycle. Last time we sent them to the lovely folks at Guide Dogs, this time I have chosen a charity which has helped my family and myself incredibly through the years and that is the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a neurological condition which affects around 100,000 people in the UK. No one knows the exact cause of MS, but it is likely that a mixture of genetic and environmental factors play a role, which is why support is needed so that the MS Society can help fund research into what causes MS. The MS Society not only fund research but they offer support to those who are effected by MS, their families, carers, friends etc. They have an incredible resource library which has 100’s of resources including some great stories about children whose parent’s suffer from MS and many of them I remember reading when I was a child and MS was first mentioned in our house. One of them includes the very aptly named Our Mum Makes the Best Cakes and reading through that I remember asking very similar questions and wondering whether I too would ‘get’ MS, thankfully the MS society helped to answer many questions I had.
Recycling ink cartridges is so easy to do and saves you chucking them in the bin. Generally the average ink cartridge that can be recycled raises between 25p and 75p and with their partnership with The Recycling Factory 100% of the profits go directly to the MS Society. For further information on how you can recycle your ink cartridges, old mobile phones, cameras, Sat Navs etc for the MS Society click here.
For now our ink cartridges have been boxed up ready for collection and another replacement box is on its way to be filled again. Another great way (and very tasty way) to help is to hold your very own Cake Break. According to the website “It’s simple, get together with your friends, family and colleagues, provide them with plenty of cake and watch the donation box fill up. You can host your Cake Break at home, at work, at school, anywhere you like!” The official Cake Break day for the MS Society is 2nd May 2014, however events are being held throughout the month of May and June as well.
