I’ve been busy with loads of our new products lately and have been having loads of fun trying and testing them out to see if they meet the quality test! We only get our products from the best in the business, bringing our customers quality for the best possible price.

Ok so enough of the sales pitch… it wasn’t really meant to sound like that! I really just wanted to show you the new range of piping nozzles we have in from JEM.

JEM are a South African Sugarcraft company that have been in the business for years and have produced brilliant products over the years. They have now released a range of high quality, stainless steel seamless piping nozzles. A fabulous range that I had the pleasure of trying out and the price is great too.

Practice Piping!

Bake your cupcakes to start and let them cool, if you don’t have a recipe handy pop over to our ‘Flat Topped Vanilla Cupcake Recipe’.

While cooling make up your buttercream recipe – Here’s an easy one that will cover 12 cupcakes generously. It’s perfect for piping and will stay firm instead of slopping off! Every cake makers nightmare!

Buttercream Frosting Recipe.

500g – Sifted Icing Sugar
50g – Pale coloured butter (Lurpack non salted is great for this)

3 – Tablespoons of Milk
1 – Teaspoon of Vanilla essence

Method

  • Beat butter until light and fluffy, gradually add in half the sifted icing sugar, milk and vanilla and beat well.
  • Add the rest of the icing sugar slowly.
  • Add in the rest of the milk and vanilla if needed, check that you have a good consistency – it should be nice and thick.

Hints & Tips

  • If needed add a dash more milk if the buttercream is too thick to pipe, alternatively add a little more icing sugar if it’s a little soft.

For trying out the new JEM piping tube nozzles, I used the above buttercream mixed with Sugarflair pastel food colourings to create a lovely range of pastel shades. Remember the Pastel Food Colours look bright in the pot but they are specifically made to be Pastels and therefore will not achieve a bright shade. Use Sugarflair Spectral range if it’s bright Rainbow colours you would like to achieve!

I’ve added the piping nozzles I’ve used to the bottom of each picture and also put a link to the product if you would like more information on them and prices you can simply click through to our online shop.

Overall I was very pleased with the JEM range and with their already booming popularity we will certainly be extending the range!
